Resigned is what I am when I walk into the kitchen before supper time.
Bile is released as I make the mistake of looking in my child’s lunch box.
Epic is the perennial question, “What’s for dinner?”
Pizza is the stalwart response.
Busy are my hands as I chop, dice, scramble fry, and steam.
Create is what occurs as a meal forms in my kitchen.
Nourish is my intention with the food I prepare.
Companionship, company, and conversation are the rewards for my efforts.
Love is what I need to remember when I face this time again tomorrow.
I’m not really all that wise. I’ve just learned how to say the things we’re told are smart.
Truth is, that apparently homeless guy you saw sitting on the corner, he’s likely four times smarter than I.
I just walk the respectable tightrope a little better.
It is in realizing that 95% of the time the only reason I get things done is because my motivation is that someone is counting on me.
It is roughly 5% of the time that I do something purely and solely for myself.
Wisdom is in realizing that nearly 99% of my success occur when my motivation is not for myself.
It is always a good reminder to slow down and relax sometimes. If I hadn’t taken the lunch hour to run to the river to take pictures I never would have seen this image left by some enterprising soul.
For sure, none of the motorists would have seen it as they rush over the bridge and up the hill…
No one is going to appreciate the work you do as much as you know it deserves.
This exponentially true when the ‘every day factor’ as well as the number of steps in the job increases. Housework tasks are the prime example.
Maturity is achieved when you learn to do the job without complaining.
Peace is found when you can find purpose and joy in these ‘mundane’ jobs.
Smug is what I feel as I squeak through the light on yellow.
Palpitations are what squeeze my heart as an Officer of the law eases behind my vehicle.
Anxiety grows as I am followed.
Relief blossoms when I turn the corner and am granted pardon for my sin when the cruiser continues straight.
Caution is what I claim as I stop at the next yellow light.
Chaos is the scene every morning as the family tries to leave the house.
Coffee is the legal drug I drink.
Order is what I so desperately desire but is constantly just beyond my reach.
Smile is what I do when I listen to my children constantly tease each other, because…
Love is what fills the air.
