Everyday Definition #11

Smug is what I feel as I squeak through the light on yellow.

Palpitations are what squeeze my heart as an Officer of the law eases behind my vehicle.

Anxiety grows as I am followed.

Relief blossoms when I turn the corner and am granted pardon for my sin when the cruiser continues straight.

Caution is what I claim as I stop at the next yellow light.

Everyday Wisdom #9

Wisdom is knowing that I can love you even though I don’t really like you. Even though I think you’re actually extremely annoying.

Extraordinary is when you find someone who actually practises that love.

Insight is when you realise that you were the annoying, unlikeable person.

Growth is when you attempt to make amends and ask forgiveness.

Grace is when forgiveness is given and the person in the wrong is left feeling built up and whole and not wrung-out and used up.

Everyday Definition #8

Disillusion happens when you realise that the love shown in movies and on the pages of Harlequin romances are more about lust and fairy tales.

Treasure is when you find a couple who shares intimate love and they keep it alive over the years.

Deep, strong, amazing love is achieved when you choose to sacrifice your dreams, visions and will for the person you love. Love grows when you work at commitment, compromise and compassion. At times it cuts you to your centre core, and because of that a love will flourish that is rich, full and rare.

Ask most parents, they’ll tell you they didn’t know about love before children.

Everyday Wisdom #8

Is realising that while Scientists could figure out how to put a man on the moon, fly around the globe in 1 day, and a way to talk face to face with my Mom who lives on the other side of the world…

That they’ll never explain what prompts an 11 year old boy. Or how he manages to get toothpaste on the bathroom ceiling, into folded towels and on the wall behind the toilet within 5 minutes.

Wisdom is knowing the world is better off leaving that mystery alone.

Good parenting is having the child clean it up.

Excellent acting is being able to hold back your laughter until the child is in bed.

Love is laughing with the child the next morning.
